A solid coaching program combines both actionable tactical steps with accountability along with developmental rhythms so that you’re looking at the person holistically to sustain the skills, knowledge and capacities you’ve built. This is what allows you to take meaningful action. Most career coaching focuses on skills or job searches, and it isn’t enough to sustain the long, hard effort of landing a job or choosing the right career.
To be human is to have beliefs and stories that are sometimes limiting and get in the way of fully realizing our goals, but what’s important is paying attention to the beliefs that guide your steps.
Does this sound familiar?
"I have to have it all figured out before I start."
"If I take a job I don’t love, I’m selling out."
"My degree doesn’t matter anymore."
"Everyone else is doing better than me."
"Work will crush me. I need to protect my mental health at all costs."

To ignore these undercurrents of belief ultimately undermine any action a person is trying to take. As a strengths-based approach grounded in Integral Theory, developmental coaching factors in mindset, habits, community, values, and external opportunities so that there is lasting change and momentum.
Integral Theory
Integral theory is a helpful developmental framework to use in the coaching context because it provides a 4-part map to assess growth across the whole of a person. The 4 quadrants used in Integral theory allow the coach to explore topics from the following positions:
Internal/Personal
Help us answer questions that answer what deeply matters to the person, and what are their experiences, beliefs, consciousness, and values.
External / Behavioral
Help us answer what are the habits, actions, and productivity systems.
Relational / Cultural
Help us explore unspoken rules that the person understands, as well as any cultural mores, norms, rituals, and traditions that we share.
Systems & Structures
Help us explore frameworks for planning, designing, analyzing, as well as theories and processes which provide support.
We work across all four areas, because real movement only happens when the whole person is engaged. Developmental coaching can be paired beautifully with any kind of coaching that has a tactical nature to it, like career coaching.
Career Coaching generally provides concrete and strategic next steps to get you in the door or advance your career. We would also use:
CliftonStrengths assessment to determine your strengths to build confidence & clarity on what you naturally do best!
Myers-Briggs STRONG Interest Inventory assessment to do career exploration that’s deeply personalized. It connects interests, motivations + personality to specific career paths, grounded in decades of research.
Plus, concrete, tactical actionable items like,
· Customized resume, Linkedin profile, cover letter support + feedback
· Certificate identification to help you stand out
· Custom guidance on networking, elevator pitch + career fair guidance
· Mock interview practice + internship identification.
Developmental coaching, when paired with tactical, actionable steps, is a powerful way to create real momentum and lasting change. It’s about more than just setting goals- it’s about knowing yourself. Doing the work of self-discovery through assessments helps you understand how you’re wired, what motivates you, and where you naturally thrive. This kind of insight fuels growth and helps you stick with the work it takes to reach meaningful goals.
